Vita Food Products Acquires Virginia Honey Co.

CHICAGO--Manufacturer of packaged salmon and herring products Vita Food Products Inc. (AMEX:USF) completed its acquisition of Virginia Honey Co. (www.virginiabrand.com), a producer of honey and salad dressings, on Aug. 15, in accordance with the definitive Stock Purchase Agreement the company filed on June 29. Terry W. Hess now serves as chief executive officer of Virginia Honey, which became a wholly owned subsidiary of Vita Foods.

"This acquisition represents a bold step forward for Vita, and we feel very positive about the approach we're taking to build shareholder value," said Stephen Rubin, president of Vita Foods. "We're pleased to welcome Terry Hess to our management team and look forward to the exciting opportunities that we're pursuing," added Clark Feldman, executive vice president of Vita.
