Vitafoods Europe Posts Growth

GENEVA, SwitzerlandThe co-located Vitafoods Europe and Finished Products Expo, which took place at the Geneva Palexpo in early May, boasted total attendance of 10,300 industry members. Vitafoods itself grew 23 percent over the 2010 figures, with 7,500 attendees. Among the offerings at Vitafoods were the Supplier Seminar Theatre, New Products Zone, EAS Advisory Sessions, VitaTrend, Mintel New Products and Consumer Insights Pavilion and the Discussion Forum. The event also included an educational conference with sessions about regulations in Europe and scientific research on nutritional ingredients and health issues such as food allergies, cognitive function and digestive health.
New this year, the Nutraceutical Business & Technology Awards (NBTAs) were presented to eight companies in different categories. Winners included Croda, Most Effective Marketing Campaign; Ingredia Nutritional, Best New Finished Product; OmniActive Health Technologies, Most Innovative Ingredient, for its Capsimax; Gnosis, Most Effective Strategic Product Development, for Quatrefolic®; and CREAGRI, Outstanding Application in Health Management.
Upcoming Vitafoods portfolio events include Vitafoods Asia in Hong Kong, Sept. 7-9, 2011; Vitafoods South America in Sao Paolo, Brazil, March 28-29, 2012; and Vitafoods Europe, again in Geneva, May 22-24, 2012.
