Weil Lifestyle Partners with ANS, Jamieson, Origins

TUCSON, Ariz.Weil LifestyleLLC entered into four licensee agreements designed to develop healthy consumerproducts aligned with the philosophies of the companys founder, Andrew Weil,M.D. The companies include Arizona Nutritional Supplements (ANS),Jamieson Laboratories, Origins Natural Resources and Pet Promise. First-year royalties from the licensee portfolio, whichincludes drugstore.com and Waterfront Media, are estimated to top $4 million; Weils after-tax profits will support his 501(c)(3), theWeil Foundation.

My primary purpose in creating Weil Lifestyle is to providea funding platform to support research and programs that will ultimately improvehealth care and empower individuals to make better health choices by followingthe principles of integrative medicine,Weil said. I also want to make quality products available to peoplewho are interested in following my recommendations.

ANS was awarded an exclusive U.S. agreement to market,manufacture and distribute a premier dietary supplement line based on Weilsrecommendations and proprietary formulas. Products will include proprietaryantioxidant and multivitamin formulas, condition formulas and individualsupplements. Dr. Weil has been intimately involved in the development of theproduct line; we are honored to be able to bring his first retail supplementline to market, said Jeremiah McElwee, Weil Nutritional Supplements brandmanager. The products will be available at retail starting in January 2005.

Jamieson Laboratories/Quest Vitamins was awarded the exclusiveCanadian licensee agreement to manufacture, market and distribute the Weilsupplement line. The line is scheduled to launch in Canadian health food storesin December 2004. Origins Natural Resources will work with Weil to develop awellness product line to launch in late 2005, while Natural Pet Nutrition willlaunch a line of pet foods under the Pet Promise brand name; the products willoffer a purity guarantee of the ingredients.
