SunOpta Inc. Expands Aseptic Plant
ALEXANDRIA, Minn.--SunOpta Inc. (www.sunopta.com) opened a new, 45,000-square-foot office and warehouse adjoining its aseptic plant here.
The new facility combines into a single location warehousing space previously located at five regional facilities. According to the company, the consolidated space will eliminate costly freight transfers, extra handling and third-party lease costs. In addition, automated palletizing equipment will improve efficiency at the facility, the company said.
The additional space will also house office operations previously based at the company's office building here. The company sold the office building in preparation for the move.
The new facility is the latest in a number of new aseptic processing and packaging expansions pursued by SunOpta throughout 2004.
