Alpha Packaging Acquires Quality Container
April 9, 2007
ST. LOUIS—Alpha Packaging acquired Quality Container, a Ypsilanti, Mich.-based manufacturer of HDPE bottles and jars, for an undisclosed sum. Alpha Packaging, a $65 million blow molder of HDPE and PET bottles and jars will add Quality Container’s $18 million sales in a continued expansion strategy to achieve $100 million in annual sales. Alpha Packaging tripled the size of its Pennsylvania plant in 2006, and opened a new 120,000-squarefoot manufacturing plant and stocking facility in Florida in January 2007. Quality Container has 144 employees at its Michigan plant, and key management will stay on to oversee operations there.
Dan Creston, chief operating officer (COO), Alpha Packaging (www.alphap.com), said: “With Quality Container, we had an opportunity to acquire a company with strong management and a complementary product line that will appeal to our current customers. With other consolidation taking place in the market, this deal makes sense in terms of both immediate sales opportunities as well as long-term growth objectives.”
