ABC Gives Pycnogenol Maker Research Award

AUSTIN, Tex.The American Botanical Council (ABC) will honor Horphag Research, maker of Pycnogenol® French maritime pine bark extract, with its annual Varro E. Tyler Commercial Investment in Phytomedicinal Research Award.

Founded in 1925, Horphag developed is a leader in French maritime pine bark extract manufacture, with sales of Pycnogenol products exceeding $500 million annual. The extract is used in dietary supplements, cosmetics and functional foods and beverages for a wide range of health issues, including menopause, joint health and heart disease.

ABC congratulates Horphag Research for this most well-deserved and probably overdue honor," said ABC founder and executive director Mark Blumenthal. ABC will present Horphag the award at the 8th Annual ABC Botanical Celebration and Awards Ceremony in March in Anaheim, California. At the event, ABC will also honor botanical literature award winners and Rosemary Gladstar for her community building.
