ActiVin Brand Sold to Dry Creek Nutrition
April 11, 2001
MODESTO, Calif.--Dry Creek Nutrition Inc., a raw material supplier and product formulator, has acquired the ActiVin brand of grape seed extract from InterHealth Nutraceuticals. Terms of the deal, which closed April 10, were not disclosed.
Dry Creek Nutrition was founded in July 2000; it currently has no other product offerings, but is working on new items. Christine DeMont, director of marketing and sales, said the company is focusing on the scientific research behind ActiVin and emphasizing the brand's quality. The company's release noted it planned to spend more than $5 million annually to fund scientific research at laboratories and universities to explore ActiVin's antioxidant activity, cardiovascular benefits and anti-inflammatory properties.
Dry Creek Nutrition has also reached an exclusive agreement with the Ernest & Julio Gallo Winery, from which it will source all raw materials for production of ActiVin. "This change in sourcing will permit us to source the freshest seed, right off of the press," DeMont said. The company has also developed several identification tests for active ingredients, and offers both internal lab analyses and independent assays.
