WAYNE, N.J.Triarcos patented enzyme system, Aminogen®, is now certified halal by the Islamic Food and Nutrition Council of America. Products certified halal are deemed permissible by Islamic law, which requires specific sanitation procedures to be followed when obtaining and processing foods and ingredients, and forbids the use certain substances, like pork, pork by-products, intoxicants and some synthetic substances.

While Triarcos New Jersey manufacturing facility was certified halal, each product must be individually evaluated and approved before it can be called halal We are proud to offer Aminogen® as our first halal certified product, and look forward to adding to that list," said Triarco president Rodger Rohde. I think this certification adds value for both manufacturers and their customers."

In addition to being certified halal, patented Aminogen® is plant-based, allergen free, and already certified Kosher and self-affirmed GRAS (generally recognized as safe). The enzyme was shown in a published clinical study to triple the rate of protein absorption. The study, published in the International Journal of the Society of Sports Nutrition found adding Aminogen® to whey protein increased free amino acid levels by 100 percent, branched-chain amino acid levels by 250 percent and nitrogen retention by 32 percent.

Currently, the market for halal products in the United States is estimated at $16 billion. There are 8 million Muslims in the United States, as well as a growing number of nonMuslim consumers who show a preference for halal because of perceived safety and quality benefits.
