Arla Foods, DMK Whey Joint Venture Approved

VIBY J, DenmarkThe European Commissions Competition Network has given the go ahead to Arla Foods Ingredients and Germanys largest dairy company, DMK, to enter into a 50/50 whey processing partnership called ArNoCo GmbH & Co. KG.

By the end of 2012, the joint venture will secure significantly increased supplies of whey for Arla Foods Ingredients production of natural, milk-based ingredients.

The partners have agreed to invest 35 million in a new whey processing facility on the site of DMKs cheese plant in Nordhackstedt, North Germany. An additional 9 million will be invested into expanding Arla Foods Ingredients whey processing plant in Nr. Vium, Denmark.
