Astaxanthin May Relieve Muscle Soreness

KAILUA-KONA, Hawaii--Astaxanthin, an antioxidant derived frommicroalgae, has shown signs of anti-inflammatory properties and may help reducemuscle soreness, according to Mera Pharmaceuticals, manufacturer of anastaxanthin ingredient that is included in AstaFactor. In a company-conducted,nationwide survey, consumers using AstaFactor reported reduced symptoms frommuscle soreness, osteoarthritis, back pain, asthma and enlarged prostate,according to the company. Respondents, aged 20 to 87, answered a list of 21health questions that covered conditions such as asthma and menstrual cramps, aswell as what effects AstaFactor had on each condition. Of the 328 healthproblems reported by consumers, 85 percent of those were improved while takingAstaFactor (www.astafactor.com). Musclesoreness was the most common ailment reported--by 60 percent of users--and 88percent of those who reported muscle soreness also said the condition improvedafter daily use of the supplement.
