Cargill Announces Multi-Million Dollar Soy Protein Isolate Plant

MINNEAPOLIS--Cargill's new multi-million dollar soy protein isolate plant, located in Ohio, will begin operations in fall 2002. The plant will produce a wide array of soy protein products containing Cargill's new soy protein isolate, for which a product name will be announced at a later date. This proprietary change will allow soy protein isolate to be used in beverages, bars, vegetarian meat products and prepared foods. "By building this state-of-the-art soy protein isolate plant, Cargill Soy Protein Solutions will be well-positioned to deliver value and innovation, and to work collaboratively with our customers," said Mary Thompson, vice president of Cargill's Soy Protein Solutions business. Cargill's Soy Protein Solutions is part of a larger Cargill initiative called Food System Design.
