Chicago Sweeteners Acquires West Coast Distributor

COMMERCE, Calif.—In late August, Chicago Sweeteners (www.chicagosweeteners.com) purchased Ingredients International, a distributor of fine ingredients to the nutritional, personal care pharmaceutical and food industries; it will continue to operate under its current name as a division of Chicago Sweeteners at its current location in Commerce, Calif. Bob Akins, president, and Bob Alexander, vice president and head of purchasing, will continue in their respective positions, but will report to Ron Friedman, vice president of operations at Chicago Sweeteners. According to Friedman, this acquisition will give Chicago Sweeteners a stronger position with West Coast manufacturers, particularly those in the food and nutritional markets. Future acquisitions are expected, as Chicago Sweeteners seeks to build a West Coast distribution network comparable to its position in the Midwest.
