DSM Acquires OatWell Beta Glucan Brand

KAISERAUGST, SwitzerlandDSM Nutritional Products acquired Swedish Oat Fiber's OatWell brand beta glucan ingredient portfolio. The agreement is effective Jan. 1, 2013; Swedish Oat Fiber will continue producing the products in its Bua, Sweden factory.

OatWell ingredients are used in functional foods, beverages and dietary supplements around the world. Oat beta glucan aids cholesterol reduction, blood glucose control and gastrointestinal health. Both the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) and U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved heart health claims for the oat beta glucans.
