Expo West Draws Record Crowd

ANAHEIM, Calif.A record crowdof 38,000 industry members from 83 countries attended Natural Products ExpoWest, held March 15 to 18 in Anaheim, Calif. According to the show organizer,New Hope Natural Media, the show boasted more than 2,590 exhibits and a largeincrease in retail attendance.

Were ecstatic by the growth and diversity on display atExpo West, but were not surprised, said Fred Linder, president of NewHope, a division of Penton Media. More people than ever are choosing to takegreater control over their health. This translates to making better choices atthe grocery store, pharmacy and in restaurants.

The show included a range of educational seminars and twokeynote presentations, one from Andrew Weil, M.D., and Nicholas Perricone,M.D.Weil was also on hand for the official launch of the Weil NutritionalSupplements line, proceeds from which help support the Weil Foundation, anot-for-profit organization with the goal of furthering integrative medicalpractice in the United States. Perricone focused on the anti-aging market andbeneficial nutrients to prevent inflammation, including natural astaxanthin.
