GNC Adding Smoothie Bars

PITTSBURGH--General Nutrition Centers (GNC) announced that itwill open as many as 300 GNC Smoothie Bars in 2002 in both its company-owned andfranchise stores. In preliminary store sites, the bars increased foot trafficand created significant increases in supplement sales, according to Mike Meyers,president and chief executive officer of GNC (www.gnc.com).

The smoothies will be proprietary formulas that include such supplements asginseng, whey protein, MetRx and ArginMax. The drinkswill target such needs as diet, sports performance, energy and overall health.
