LA MIRANDA, Calif.—Chinese ingredient manufacturer Hubei Xingfa Group will expand its current methylsulfonylmethane (MSM) production capacity to more than 2,000 metric tons per year, and it will also upgrade its current MSM facility to be good manufacturing practice (GMP)-compliant toward the end of the year.

This expansion will make Hubei Xingfa Group the top MSM supplier. United States ingredient distributor Green Wave Ingredients (GWI) will be the main distributor in the states.

During the expansion, Xingfa plans to establish its market position with one decisive competitive advantage: vertical integration of the MSM raw material.

“We have great expectations with this expansion," said Tom Zhao, president of Xingfa USA. “The global demand of MSM is growing significantly, especially in the United States. The current supply is not consistent, which we are going to change with this strategic move. Continuous supply will be guaranteed through our direct access to the raw material."

GWI installed a near-infrared spectroscopy (NIR) instrument at its Chinese office earlier this year.
