Kaneka Expands Japanese, U.S. Ops

OSAKA, Japan Kaneka Corp.(www.kanekaq10.com) announced it completed the planned expansion of its coenzymeQ10 (CoQ10) production facilities in Takasago, Japan. The company met requiredpharmaceutical validations and safety confirmations, and has begun commercialshipment of KanekaQ10. The expansion brings Kanekas annual CoQ10production capacity from Japan to 180 metric tons.

In addition, Kaneka Nutrients L.P., the Pasadena, Texas-basedU.S. subsidiary, is moving forward on construction of its own CoQ10 plant, withplanned annual production capacity of 100 metric tons. Phase I construction was impacted by the 2005 hurricanes inthe Gulf Coast; however, the construction is expected to be completed by thissummer.
