Kemin Forms Alliance with AVT

DES MOINES, IowaKeminIndustries formed a strategic alliance with AVT Natural Products Ltd., a memberof the A.V. Thomas (AVT) group of companies, and one of the leading marigoldcontract farmers in southern and western India. Under terms of the five-yearagreement, AVT will be the key strategic supplier of marigolds for Kemin, whichis a leading producer of purified lutein from marigold. The companies will alsowork to develop additional countries as marigold farm sources.

This alliance will deliver greater long-term assurance tothe customer for lutein quality, safety and reliability, said ChristopherNelson, president of Kemin (www.kemin.com). It will leverage Kemin Industriesexpertise in the research and development of nutraceutical products and AVTscore competencies in agri-business, including managed logistics of flowergrowing and collection and good manufacturing practices and food safety-basedextraction.
