L-Carnitine Crystalline Shown To Benefit Heart Health

BASEL, Switzerland--Lonza's company-sponsoredclinical trial of L-Carnitine Crystalline, which indicated the ingredient cansignificantly increase fatty acid oxidation in healthy adults, was published inthe November issue of Metabolism (51, 11:1389-91, 2002). "Weobserved a significant increase in 13C02 exhalation, thereby indicating asignificant increase in fat oxidation in healthy adults," said Dr. DetlefMuller of the University of Leipzig in Germany and a co-author of the study, ina press release from Lonza (www.carnitine.com).The company noted this study is significant because it shows that oral L-CarnitineCrystalline supplementation stimulates in vivo long chain fatty acid metabolism,which is important for promoting cardiovascular health.
