ORANGE, N.J.LycoRed Ltd. will introduce its new micro-encapsulated and sustainable beadlet line of natural carotenoids and vitamins for food and supplement manufacturers at SupplySide Marketplace in New York and VitaFoods Europe in Geneva.

The stable, vegetarian, kosher and halal product line is manufactured in the United States and complements LycoRed's core encapsulation technologies of applied gelatin, alginate and spray-dried coating systems.

Tablet-grade carotenoids can be problematic for beverage and supplement manufacturers because these lipid-soluble compounds are unstable and oxidize easily. Given this new technology, LycoRed has formulated beadlets that are very stable, protecting carotenoids and vitamins from oxidation.

The starch beadlet formulations are free-flowing and suitable for effervescent tablets and hard shell capsules. The starch beadlets are designed for use in dry-blend beverages, as the coating is water soluble. They are initially available for the carotenoids, lycopene, beta-carotene and lutein, and also vitamin D and vitamin A-acetate.
