BEER SHEVA, IsraelLycroRed launched its two new beta-carotene colorant formulations, Lyc-O-Beta and Beta-Cote, that deliver high-intensity coloring for a lower colorant usage.

LycoRed developed Lyc-O-Beta Intense and BetaCote Intense to include a higher beta-carotene color intensity; as a result, they are extremely resistant to the fading that may occur as a result of pasteurization and other stressful processes.

"The LycoRed R&D team of scientists worked hard to develop the innovative colorants for food and beverage applications," said Roee Nir, global commercial manager of color for LycoRed. "These new, high-intensity, beta-carotene colorants are aligned with our sustainable strategy to help food and beverage manufactures bring value-added products to the market."

LycoRed's new beta-carotene colorant products line is highly soluble and is available in a concentrated liquid form for user-friendly processing and production. The non-foaming product avoids clumping issues that are common in some powdered colorant formats for use in ready-to-drink (RTD) beverages.

"These products allow our customers to significantly reduce costs and enables them to create clean-label and vegetarian products at high competitive prices," Nir said.

The products are available in natural and nature-identical sources and are not only vegetarian but kosher, Halal and certified free of any allergenic ingredients. The colorants are also free of dichloromethane (DCM)a common ingredient found in beta-carotene powder products.

Earlier this year, LycoRed debut its line of micro-encapsulated starch beadlets at SupplySide MarketPlace and VitaFoods Europe.
