FLORIDA--Mainstream food manufacturers are beginning to enter the soy beverage market. The booming soy beverage market can't compete with soda and milk sales, but the $126 million in sales is enticing nonetheless. Two of the most interesting recent offerings come from mainstream manufacturers Tropicana and Bestfoods. Tropicana and Galaxy Foods have partnered to produce a soy-based fruit smoothie. The drink, made from juice, fruit puree, soymilk and soy protein will be debuted in select movie theaters, restaurants and Kroeger supermarkets.

Bestfoods has also introduced a new soy beverage. Its product, called NutraBlend, has been sold in Latin America for the past 10 years but is new to the United States. Tropicana is online at www.tropicana.com. Bestfoods is online at www.bestfoods.com.
