Novozymes' Food Enzymes Experience Sales Growth

BAGSVAERD, Denmark--Novozymes A/S reported Feb. 5that for its fiscal year (FY02), sales for its enzymes helped its overallcompany sales, which rose to US$846,000 from US$791,000 reported for FY01.

In all, eight new enzyme products were released in 2002,including three food enzymes. Technical enzyme sales rose 1 percent over thesame period the year before, but food enzyme sales grew 7 percent, although itwould have been more if exchange rates had been more favorable. The bakingindustry was the main driver behind this sales growth, with beverage enzymesales only slightly above 2001 levels. Sales of feed enzymes increased 27percent, buoyed by the company's alliance with Roche Vitamins.
