MORRISTOWN, N.J. and LOS ANGELESP.L. Thomas announced it joined forces with Just the Berries of Palmerston North, New Zealand, a grower and processor of black currant derivations (Ribes nigrum L). According to the agreement, P.L. Thomas would be the exclusive North American sales and marketing representative for Just the Berries' antioxidant ingredient.

Black currants have earned the moniker "king of berries" due to their high concentrations of potassium; magnesium; iron; calcium; vitamins A, B and C; other trace minerals; organic acids; and other phenolics.

Just the Berries black currants are grown in unpolluted air and intense natural sunlight; they are also grown without chemical fertilizers, pesticides or herbicides.

The extracts may be applied to a range of products, including dietary supplements, beverages, processed foods and cosmetic applications.

P.L. Thomas manufactures ingredients across many categories including supplements, health and wellness, food and beverage, cosmeceuticals and natural resins. In January 2012, the company added two new sales representatives as a result to growing demand for the company's ingredients.
