Rhodia Sells Enzyme Business

CRANBURY, N.J.--Rhodia announced the sale of itsU.K.-based Brewing & Enzymes business to Genecor International Inc., whichhas offices in the United States, Canada and The Netherlands. Rhodia stated thetransaction is in line with its realignment strategy, meant to shift itsportfolio to a growth model based on the cross-fertilization of technologies andthe development of value-added solutions for customers. With the sale of itsenzyme business, Rhodia will now focus on its food additives business and targetits core markets: dairy, desserts, beverages, nutraceuticals, meat, savorysauces and dressings, and bakery products. According to the company (www.rhodia.com),the Brewing & Enzymes business generated sales of around US$17.7 million in2001, including significant distribution business for Genecor (www.genecor.com).
