Schouten USA Merges Into Acatris

MINNEAPOLIS--The Royal Schouten Group, based in The Netherlands, formed a new company,Acatris, through the merger of four of its current holdings: Daminco Inc., Oakville, Canada; Orffa Health & Nutrition,Londerzeel, Belgium; SoyLife Nederland, Giessen, The Netherlands; and Schouten USA Inc., Minneapolis. The move consolidates Royal Schouten's food and health activities; each company will be Acatris (www.acatris.com) in its home country.

Acatris USA, formerly Schouten USA, exhibited at SupplySide East and will make its official debut this month at the IFT Convention in Anaheim, Calif. As part of its move, it is introducing two new ingredients. The first is LinumLife™, a concentrated lignan extract from flaxseed derived through a special processing technique that retains stability compared to milled flax seeds or flax oil. The second is SoyLife® Focus™, a food-grade roasted soy germ available as whole germ or milled germ.
