Scientists Detect No Health Difference Between Fresh,Pasteurized Juice

MADRID--Researchers from Ciudad Universityannounced fresh squeezed and pasteurized orange juice are indistinguishable interms of antioxidant capacity. The study, published in the Journal of theScience of Food and Agriculture (83, 5:430-439, 2003), compared levels ofvitamin C, flavonoids and carotenoids in fresh-squeezed orange juice andpasteurized juice, and found no significant differences in antioxidant content.According to the article, commercial orange juice is the principal source ofantioxidants in developed countries.
