ORLANDO, Fla.Valensa released Spirulina Minis, 200 mg dosage size of its Parry Organic Spirulina, targeting children and elderly consumers. The minis are prototype products available for branding under manufacturers' labels. The minis also make use of Parry's new, milder tasting organic spirulina, which debuted in late 2012.

One of the issues that Spirulina has had with reaching a broader consumer audience has been an objection to the green food taste that is associated with its algal status, " said Valensa president and CEO Rudi E. Moerck, Ph.D., noting that spirulina is often an acquired taste. "In addition, traditional 500 mg Spirulina supplement sizes have, for many people, been a problem. With Spirulina Minis, we have developed a starter spirulina for children, an acceptable pill burden for people with dysphagia and a product that is almost without taste when ingested."

Valensa, which just debuted its supercritical CO2 perilla seed extract line, is a leader in the green foods industry. Learn more about the segment in the INSIDER articles, "Super Green Superfoods" and "Straight from the Green Source."
