Stratum Nutrition Portfolio Expands

ST. CHARLES, Mo.Stratum Nutrition has expanded its portfolio of nutraceutical and functional ingredients, following the closing of the acquisition of IQF Group by Stratums parent company, Novus International Inc. Among the ingredients that will be merged into the Stratum Nutrition product portfolio are BETACOL®, a nature-identical beta-carotene; CANTHACOL® canthaxanthin; and LUTECOL®, a natural lutein ingredient.

We are very excited about the addition of IQFs products and capabilities, said Jeremy Moore, director of marketing for Stratum. Our strategy is to offer both functional ingredients, like carotenoids and minerals, for fortification and general health, as well as specialty ingredients, like NEM® and ARTINIA, to address condition-specific needs.

Novus launched Stratum Nutrition, its human nutrition division, in the fall of 2009, allowing the company to will leverage its core competencies in research and innovation to support the human nutrition endeavor while maintaining its focus in the animal agriculture business. It announced the IQF acquisition in late May 2010, gaining Carotenoid Technologies, S.A. and Investigaciones Químicas y Farmacéuticas, S.A. based in Tarragona, Spain, and IQF-ENAMEX, S.A. de C.V. based in Córdoba, Mexico.
