COPENHAGEN, DenmarkDanisco launched a sustainable xylitol called XIVIA. The Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) results of the Danisco Wood Based (DWB) integrated concept study indicate that DWB produces as little as 1-percent to 16-percent of the environmental impact associated with the biomass hydrolysis process based production (BHP) method using corn cobs as raw material. Based on the LCA results, Danisco introduced XIVIA xylitol. .

The LCA results clearly indicate that XIVIA is a far more sustainable sugar substitute than xylitol produced using corn cobs," said James Dedman, business director, polyols at Danisco.
