LONDON, Ontario & KEARNY, N.J.—Sytrinol®, a patented combination of polymethoxylated flavones and tocotrienols, was self-affirmed GRAS (generally recognized as safe) by an independent expert panel assembled by AIBMR Life Sciences. KGK Synergize, the patent holder, and Proprietary Nutritionals Inc. (PNI), the exclusive supplier, jointly announced the news.

“The GRAS affirmation for Sytrinol represents the quality of the compound in its ability to now be incorporated into a range of foods and beverages with value-added health functionality,” said Dean Mosca, president, PNI, part of Pharmachem Laboratories. “Its trust in the eyes of health-oriented consumers will further propel successful market opportunities and penetration. Sytrinol has a history of success in the marketplace as a dietary supplement, and now that it has been given GRAS approval, this naturally presents an exciting evolution into the next generation of Sytrinol-containing foods and beverages.”

Further, according to Sytrinol developer Najila Guthrie, KGK has been working with processors to perfect the manufacturing procedures of adding Sytrinol seamlessly into shakes, beverages, bars, chocolate and other items without incurring solubility problems and to neutralize the naturally occurring taste of orange peel.
