LONDONTate & Lyle PLC has acquired Biovelop, a Kimstad, Sweden-based manufacturer of oat beta glucan for the food, beverage, supplement and cosmetics markets.

Biovelop produces oat beta glucan under the brand name PromOat for use in the food, beverage and supplement markets, and under the brand name Avenacare for use in the cosmetics industry. The company also produces a range of other oat-based ingredients, including PrOATein (oat protein), oat dextrin and insoluble oat fiber. Biovelops products are manufactured from non-GMO oats sourced from within Sweden using a chemical-free process.

We are delighted to welcome the Biovelop business and its employees to Tate & Lyle. The addition of Biovelops soluble oat beta glucan, supported by strong scientific health claims, represents an excellent addition to Tate & Lyles existing fibers and health and wellness portfolios," said Olivier Rigaud, President, Specialty Food Ingredients for Tate & Lyle.
