Tate & Lyle, McNeil Nutritionals Form Global Sucralose Alliance

LONDON--Tate & Lyle, a leader in sugar, cereal sweeteners and starches, and McNeil Nutritionals, a Johnson and Johnson company, announced a new global alliance designed to maximize the market penetration and accelerate the worldwide growth of sucralose. Existing sucralose sales and marketing arrangments have been restructured to fit into the geographic and market strengths of each company.

Under the agreement, the companies will closely cooperate to develop the sucralose business. Tate & Lyle will act as the exclusive broker for sucralose ingredient sales in certain key markets outside North America. McNeil will exclusively market its Splenda brand of sucralose to retailers worldwide.

Sucralose, a non-caloric sweetener made from sugar, is manufactured by McNeil in the United States and is currently approved for use in more than 40 countries.
