TIC Gums

BELCAMP, Md.TIC Gums recentlydeveloped new gum acacia-based products specifically created to replace cornsyrup. TIC Pretested® Ticaloid® LC Corn Syrup Replacer has been designed toform a gum syrup that functions similarly to corn syrup. The gum system iscomprised of 85 percent dietary fiber that can be subtracted from totalcarbohydrate count, helping to reduce overall net carb count, the company said.

Food scientists at TIC Gums originally tested Ticaloid LC CornSyrup Replacer for use as a non-genetically modified organism (GMO) gum systemuntil its potential for the burgeoning low carb and low sugar productmarketplace became apparent. So many formulators are trying to remove cornsyrup from their products due to consumer demand that this market nicheessentially created itself, said Greg Andon, TIC Gums business developmentmanager.

Interest in high fiber corn syrup substitutes, or HFCS aswe call them, has been high and we expect that demand to continue to grow.

According to Andon, Ticaloid LC Corn Syrup Replacer can beused in a variety of applications, making it one of the more flexible andversatile gum systems used in low carb and low sugar formulations.
