EUSTIS, Fla.--U.S. Nutraceuticals LLC, a supplier of supercritical fluid extracts to the nutritional industry, acquired La Haye Laboratories, a Redmond, Wash.-based manufacturer of astaxanthin. Financial details were not disclosed.

Under terms of the acquisition, La Haye's astaxanthin business will become part of U.S. Nutraceuticals. La Haye's president, Larry Line, will serve as vice president of international development for U.S. Nutraceuticals. La Haye's branded ingredients include astaZANTHIN™ and Zanthin®.

"We don't anticipate changes in sales and marketing of the astaxanthin ingredients," said Tony Evans, Ph.D., president of U.S. Nutraceuticals (www.usnutra.com). "However, there is a big advantage in being able to do our own extraction, which will permit us to offer a wider variety of finished products to our clients." Evans added that the company is looking for additional acquisitions to bolster its position in the industry, though none are planned at the moment.
