U.S. Nutraceuticals Acquires La Haye Laboratories

EUSTIS, Fla.--U.S. Nutraceuticals LLC, a supplier ofsupercritical fluid extracts to the nutritional industry, acquired La HayeLaboratories, a Redmond, Wash.-based manufacturer of astaxanthin. Financialdetails were not disclosed.

Under terms of the acquisition, La Haye's astaxanthin business will becomepart of U.S. Nutraceuticals. La Haye's president, Larry Line, will serve as vicepresident of international development for U.S. Nutraceuticals. La Haye'sbranded ingredients include astaZANTHINTM andZanthin.

"We don't anticipate changes in sales and marketing of the astaxanthiningredients," said Tony Evans, Ph.D., president of U.S. Nutraceuticals (www.usnutra.com)."However, there is a big advantage in being able to do our own extraction,which will permit us to offer a wider variety of finished products to ourclients." Evans added that the company is looking for additionalacquisitions to bolster its position in the industry, though none are planned atthe moment.
