CARLSBAD, Calif.—Glanbia Nutritionals Inc.’s HydroMax glycerol offers an alternatives to glycerol monostearate (GMS) for sports nutrition companies.

HydroMax is the a concentrated—65 percent—yet stable form of powdered glycerol offering hydration in a proprietary blend of glycerol and silica. It is made to be easily included in ready-to-mix and capsule applications that are helpful in sports nutrition.

GMS powders are 5 percent to 12 percent potent and become unstable as it absorbs water. HydroMax is easily absorbed and distributed throughout the intracellular space, increasing the concentration of fluid in the blood and tissues. This brings possible benefits for endurance and stamina events, such as adaption to the environmental stress and promoting blood flow associated with resistance training. It’s also been shown to help athletes store extra water.

The ingredient is now being used in the formulation of many sports nutrition products like Betancourt Nutrition’s Pump’D and D-Stunner, Purus Labs’ NOXYGEN, MuscleSport’s Rhino Revolution 2.0, and Reaction Nutrition’s Recor Pre Action.

Earlier this year, Glanbia announced that it would be the only United States distributor of CapsiAtra, a dihydrocapsiate compound from Ajinomoto
