Acatris' SoyLife Chosen for Use in USDA Research Project

MINNEAPOLIS--SoyLife, a soy isoflavonesupplement available from Acatris USA, will be used in a two-year women's healthstudy conducted by researchers at the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. The$4.5 million study, funded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), willexamine whether soy isoflavone supplementation reduces bone loss inpostmenopausal women.

The OPUS (Osteoporosis Prevention Using Soy) study will include400 women from various ethnic groups; candidates will be recruited and monitoredat four study sites throughout the United States. The project will also have aneducational component that includes instructing doctors, researchers, studentsand dietitians about the relationship between nutrition and osteoporosis, thehealth benefits of soy and dietary recommendations.

Acatris, along with Schouten Products, also announced theopening of a new SoyLife production factory in Poederooijen, The Netherlands.Both companies are divisions of the Royal Schouten Group of The Netherlands.SoyLife (www.soylife.com), a soy germingredient, is produced through a mechanical process without the use ofsolvents.
