AIBMR Releases GRAS Ingredient Database

PUYALLUP, Wash.AIBMR Life Sciences launched a GRAS Self-Determination Inventory Database (GSID), which lists ingredients that have been self-determined GRAS (generally recognized as safe).

AIBMR's creation of the GSID database addresses the recent calls for transparency in the self-affirmation GRAS process, as well as the recommendation of the U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO) that at least some basic information, such as the substances identity" be made known.

AIBMR has extensive expertise in preparing GRAS determinations and submitting FDA GRAS notifications for companies around the world. The database was released during SupplySide West, following a presentation by AIBMRs senior director of research and CEO, Alexander Schauss, Ph.D., FACN, on Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2012.

The database is available on AIBMR's website.

In August 2012, AIBMR helped Ganeden Biotech recieve a non objection letter from FDA for the GRAS status of its GanedenBC30® (Bacillus coagulans GBI-30, 6086), a spore-forming probiotic ingredient.
