Alfalfa Sprouts Recalled Over Salmonella

WASHINGTONJonathans Sprouts, a Rochester, Mass., firm, is recalling alfalfa sprout products because they may be contaminated with Salmonella, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced April 19.

The recall involves 4-ounce plastic containers of Jonathans Alfalfa Sprouts, Jonathans Alfalfa with Radish Sprouts, Jonathans Gourmet Sprouts, Jonathans Alfalfa with Dill Sprouts; 8-ounce containers of Jonathans Alfalfa Sprouts; and Jonathans 5-pound Bulk Alfalfa in waxed 18"x11" cardboard cartons-code 397. All recalled sprouts have sell-by dates of April 23, 2011.

The recalled products were distributed in Delaware, Maryland, New England, New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania. Jonathans organic alfalfa sprouts or any of Jonathans organic products are not part of the recall.
