NEW YORKThe branded multivitamins alternaVites® received gluten-free certification after meeting compliance standards.

The multivitamins, alternaVites and alternaVites Kids, contain essential vitamins and minerals in a crystal powder form, which are made for consumers who prefer not to swallow pills. Developed by Rich Vitamins, the products won in the multivitamin/mineral category for SupplySide's 2012 Editor's Choice Awards.

In addition to the new gluten-free status, the vitamins are also free from major food allergens (egg, milk, peanut, tree nuts, wheat, soy, fish and shellfish), and contain no sugar, aspartame, high-fructose syrup, artificial flavors or preservatives. The Orthodox Union (OU) has also certified these products as kosher pareve.

"Our company motto is to create products that eliminate any and all excuses people have for not taking their vitamins," said Hallie Rich, founder of Rich Vitamins LLC. With so many adults and children looking for gluten-free products, we are thrilled to announce third party testing confirms that alternaVites and alternaVites Kids are both gluten free. Now, more than ever, parents and children can rest assured they are getting the nutrients they need without the ingredients and additives that they don't."

FDA recently defined the term "gluten-free" for labeling of food and supplements in a move the regulatory agency said would aid the three million Americans who are victims of celiac disease.
