American Egg Board Awards Dr. Glenn Froning

PARK RIDGE, Ill.American Egg Board adviser, Dr. Glenn Froning, was presented the inaugural Gilbert Eckhoff Award by the United Egg Association Further Processor Division (UEA) during the recent Urner Barry Conference.
As a faculty member of the Food Science Department at the University of Nebraska- Lincoln, Froning has participated in several research projects involving eggs and has become an expert in assisting food manufacturers with egg product development. He also led the revision of the International Egg Pasteurization Manual that validated the effectiveness of egg pasteurization guidelines to assure they meet today's food-safety programs.
After working as professor emeritus Food Science and Technology at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, Froning began a second career with the American Egg Board (AEB), the marketing arm of U.S. egg farmers. Since 2002, he has served as AEBs Food Technology Advisor answering technical questions related to eggs and food manufacturing. He has earned the designation of being an IFT Fellow, and is a member of the Nebraska Poultry Hall of Fame. The award is named after Gilbert Eckhoff, a leader within the egg product industry and past CEO of Omahas Henningsen Foods, and was created to recognize individuals who have made notable contributions to the industry.
