ARS Nutrient Database Updated

BELTSVILLE, Md.The U.S. Department of Agricultures (USDA) Agricultural Research Service (ARS) launched an updated version of its nutrient database. More than 400 new entries were added to the USDA National Nutrient Database for Standard Reference, Release 16, known as SR16 for short. Among the upgrades, there are now values for individual carotenoids and vitamin K. To access SR16, visitwww.nal.usda.gov/fnic/foodcomp.

USDA also has a Food and Nutrition Information Center (FNIC) that includes consumer and industry information on dietary supplements. FNIC includes a database of research about dietary supplements, a list of general resources for consumers and updated information about dietary supplement regulation and government warnings.
