Azteca Linda Expands Cheese Recall

WASHINGTONAzteca Linda Corp., based in Brooklyn, N.Y., has expanded its Aug. 24 recall of  Queso Fresco fresh white cheese with expiration dates of Sept. 11, 2010, to include expiration dates of Sept. 12, 2010. The company also recalled Queso El Azteca brand Requeson ricotta cheese with expiration dates of Sept. 19, 2010, because it may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced Sept. 1.

The recalled Queso Fresco is packaged in a hard plastic container labeled with the brand name Queso El Azteca, net wt. 14 ounces (396g), UPC 0 23986 92692 8. The product was sold to retail stores in the New York City area.

Queso Requeson is packaged in a hard plastic container labeled with the brand name Queso El Azteca, net wt. 14 ounces (396g), no UPC coding. The  product was sold to retail stores in the New York City area and Providence, R.I.
