Bagels Recalled Over Metal Fragments

WASHINGTONBBU, Inc., the parent of the Bimbo Bakeries, is recalling Thomas', Sara Lee, Publix and Weight Watchers bagels because they may contain fragments of metal caused by a faulty manufacturing part, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced.

The recall, initiated after the discovery of metal fragments in two packages, involves specific brands and varieties of fresh bagels sold at grocery stores with "best buy" dates of Jan. 18 and Jan. 27 found on the lock tab bag closures.

Thomas bagels were recalled in Alabama, Florida, Georgia and Tennessee. Varieties include Everything Bagels, Blueberry Bagels, Onion Bagels, Plain Bagels, Cinnamon Raisin Bagels, Hearty Grains 100% Whole Wheat Bagels, Cinnamon Swirl Bagels, and Honey Wheat Bagels.

Sara Lee Deluxe bagels were recalled in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee. Varieties include Honey Wheat, Plain, Blueberry, and Cinnamon Raisin.

Publix Premium bagels were recalled in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina and Tennessee. Varieties include Original, Multi-Grain, and Cinnamon Raisin Swirl.

Weight Watchers original bagels were recalled in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee.
