FLORHAM PARK , NJBASF Corporation has appointed two distributors to service human nutrition customers in North America.  Effective Jan. 1, 2012, Brenntag Specialties Inc. will cover Canada and the eastern United States, and Horn Company will handle the western United States.  The move is a response, in part, to new North American opportunities created by BASF's acquisition of Cognis in late 2010, which broadened BASF's product and services portfolio.

After a thorough selection process, we identified the best distribution partners to deliver the high quality products and services our customers expect from BASF in a new and more efficient way, said Samy Jandali, BASF's VP nutrition & health for North America.  This new distribution network will provide our customers with a broad range of products to meet virtually any application need in dietary supplements, foods and beverages.

BASF said it selected the two companies based on their long histories of specialized industry expertise and proven track records with numerous other BASF business groups. Brenntag Specialties, a global market leader in full-line chemical distribution, maintains sales and marketing support at six regional customer service centers, operates 17 warehouses across the United States and Canada, and offers technical service, regulatory expertise and analytical laboratories. BASF noted Brenntag offers more than  10,000 products and a highly diverse supplier base, making it a one-stop-shop for more than 150,000 customers.

Horn Company is a premier North American distributor of specialty ingredients, raw materials and chemicals for use in a wide variety of industries, including nutraceuticals, cosmetics, personal care products, food ingredients, cleaning products and animal wellness products, coatings, composites, building materials, elastomers, and adhesives.
