Blue California's Luo Han Guo Earns GRAS Status

RANCHO SANTA MARGARITA, Calif.Blue California has successfully completed self-affirmed GRAS certification for its BlueSweet LHG (Luo Han Guo) extract, confirmed by a panel of experts. The self-affirmed GRAS status is based on FDA requirements for safety of ingredients used in food products. Derived from LHG, also called monkfruit, BlueSweet is standardized to mogroside V, a natural alternative to sugar and artificial sweeteners. According to the company, BlueSweet LHG can be used in products such as protein powders, nutritional bars, beverages, cereals, desserts, yogurts, chewing gum, candies, chocolates, in fact, any food product that requires sweetness and can benefit from reduced calories.
