Capelin Fish Recalled Over Botulism Fears

WASHINGTONJFC International Inc., a Brooklyn, N.Y., firm, is recalling frozen capelin fish because it was not properly eviscerated prior to processing and may be contaminated with Clostridium botulinum spores that cause botulism, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced Dec. 17.

The recall involves frozen Capelin in a plastic wrapped Styrofoam trays with the following codes: frozen Capelin 7L8P, frozen Capelin 7L5P, frozen Capelin 6L10P, frozen Capelin 6L8P, frozen Capelin 6L5P, frozen Capelin 5L10P, frozen Capelin 5L8P and is a product of Vietnam.
