Cargill's AdvantaSoy Approved GRAS

MINNEAPOLIS--Cargill announced the completion of aself-GRAS (generally recognized as safe) determination for its AdvantaSoyClear concentrated soy isoflavones for a variety of foods and beverages. TheGRAS determination was affirmed by an independent panel of scientists, accordingto the company (www.cargillnutraceuticals.com).AdvantaSoy Clear also has improved solubility, taste and color, and containsapproximately 40 percent isoflavones. "AdvantaSoy Clear provides addedbenefit to customers," said Lee Knudson, product manager for Cargill Health& Food Technologies. "It can easily be incorporated into beverageswithout compromising flavor and taste. The GRAS determination permits theincorporation of isoflavones into applications such as yogurt and confections... representing a significant opportunity for the consumer food productindustry."
