Chemi Nutra A-GPC Earns FDA GRAS Status

WHITE BEAR LAKE, Minn.Chemi Nutra received no objection from FDA on the company's self-affirmed GRAS status for Alpha-Glyceryl Phosphoryl Choline (A-GPC). Chemi Nutra, the US branch of parent company Chemi S.p.A., manufactures AlphaSize® A-GPC for dietary supplements, beverages and shots.

The branded ingredient targets mental and exercise performance and provides sports nutrition, energy and anti-aging benefits. As a precursor of acetylcholine, the body's primary neurotransmitter, A-GPC is involved with brain function. The ingredient has been proven to improve mental clarity and tackle dementia.

Chemi S.p.A. is currently expanding production of AlphaSize A-GPC, said Scott Hagerman, Chemi Nutra president.

In Feb. 2012, Chemi Nutra received a U.S. patent for phosphatidylserine (PS) for testosterone management.
